The proposed W Hotel is located in the privileged Mediterranean holiday destination Marbella, on the 'Golden Mile' a stretch of highway connecting the old town and Puerto Banús, home to some of the most luxurious hotels and residences the city has to offer with picturesque views over mountain and sea.
Katrina worked on this project whilst at Acme. The team's brief was to design a uniquely contemporary luxury hotel for a younger guest, an offer that was deemed to be lacking in Marbella. The hotel also should be adapted for the local climate, therefore the team worked to incorporate shading structures, vegetation and natural ventilation, and various swimming pools including a rooftop pool extending across the entire building.
The orientation of the rooms allow views of the building's internal patios and courtyard spaces and also far reaching external views of the Sierra Blanca mountain and sea.
