Northgate Quarter Market, Chester, UK
Acme Architects
| Planning approved
At Acme, Katrina lead the planning submission for the Chester Northgate redevelopment scheme, which was approved in 2016. The retail lead mixed used scheme aspires to regenerate a significant city centre site, bringing the city market back into a prominent location, on one of the newly created public squares.
The new market design is made up of large interconnecting load bearing concrete arches, creating a Cordoba-esque hall of pillars and arches that set the rhythm of the stalls layout below.
A central food hall and dining experience is a focal point to the market, with also larger restaurant units facing the square.
